Manuel Antonio National Park Hike

Discover the natural beauty of Manuel Antonio National Park

Tour Description

Manuel Antonio National Park Hike

Situated in 900 hectares, including 12 surroundings rocky islets, Manuel Antonio National Park is the smallest and yet the most visited park in the country. This is a guided nature walk where you will learn the importance of the park as a transitional zone where the tropical dry forest and the rainforest overlap.

Trip Itinerary

Within a relatively short distance, you will visit one of the Pacific’s most breathtaking beaches and also appreciate the Mangrove wetland.

The walk in the park starts on the tombolo, an isthmus formed by the accumulation of sedimentary material between the mainland and Punta Catedral, which was once an island.

Playa Manuel Antonio awaits across the tombolo, where we will stop and enjoy this pristine beach. Beyond this point we will hike up a trail to a viewpoint overlooking Puerto Escondido and Punta Serrucho and then back on the Perezoso Trail.

Wildlife is abundant throughout the park and, most likely, we will see sloths, coatis or any of the three types of monkeys (White-faced, squirrel or howler). Over 350 species of birds are reported in the park and surrounding area and also common are agoutis, armadillos, iguanas and raccoons. Following the park tour we will have fruits and refreshments at a local beach front restaurant.
